Forests are natural sponges and critically important in regulating water supply. Forest destruction directly contributes to flooding, landslides, spread of disease, and reduced agricultural production. Forests are home to diverse and endangered wildlife and provide the home and spiritual identity to many indigenous peoples. Rural poor are directly dependent on forest resources which provide critical sources of food, shelter and a means to earn income. Rampant logging and forest clearance has reduced forests in Asia by more that three quarters since 1900 Use electronic paperless dictionaries and do a little bit for the environment!
